Commercial Rebates
Indoor Efficient Lighting
Indoor Efficient Lighting:
Earn $0.10 per watt when you replace both ballasts and lamps, achieving a lighting load reduction of 1 kW or greater! (Tier 1)
Or, get $0.025 per watt when you replace lamps only, achieving a reduction of 1 kW or greater, for the maximum of a $100 rebate! (Tier 2)
Tier 1 Rebate Qualifications:
- Only dedicated ballast and lamp systems are eligible
- Ballasts must have total harmonic distortion levels of less than 20% as tested by Edison Testing Laboratories (ETL)
- The customer and/or contractor must attest that the installations meet all required codes and standards. FPU accepts no liability for the installations
Tier 2 Rebate Qualifications:
- The customer must sign an agreement to maintain efficient lamps for a minimum of two years
- Only lamps that are deemed likely to be in use at the time of FPU’s system peak will be eligible for this rebate
Additional Details:
- Ineligible installations include reductions in lighting energy caused by fixture/lamp removal, operational changes, ‘add-on’ energy-saving devices and ballasts designed to operate multiple wattage lamp types
- De-lamping installations will require that reflectors be incorporated unless high-output ballasts are used in the installations
- All indoor lighting retrofits that are energy-efficient and reduce overall wattage will qualify

Heating & Cooling Efficiency Upgrade:
Heating & Cooling Efficiency Upgrade:
Jumpstart your HVAC energy-savings with up to $100 cash back when you:
- Replace your current system with a high-efficiency heat pump or air conditioning system
- Install a new high-efficiency heat pump or air conditioning system
In order to be eligible for a rebate, the commercial customer must:
- Replace existing equipment with—or install—a new heat pump (AHRI rating only) or central air conditioning system with a minimum rating of 14.0 SEER
- Be the owner of the business, which must be located in FPU’s electric service area
- Have a ducted HVAC system
Additional Details:
- When installing a new heat pump, the maximum supplemental strip heating physically contained in the system shall not exceed 2 kW per nominal ton. (On a system of less than 2.5 tons, a 5 kW heat strip will be allowed)
- For a heat pump using supplemental strip heating, a two-stage indoor thermostat is required
- The customer and/or contractor must attest that the heat pump or air conditioner installation meets all required codes and standards. FPU accepts no liability for the installation
- The business cannot have oil or electric resistance as its primary heat source when installing a straight cooling system
- If the installation qualifies for multiple rebates, FPU will not honor rebates that result in a ‘double payment’ to a single customer. (This does not apply to federal or state tax credits/rebates)
Window Film Installation:
Window Film Installation:
Install solar window film with a shading coefficient of 0.45 or less for $0.50 per square foot—or up to a $100 rebate!
Additional Details:
- In order to be eligible, the customer must have an on-site inspection scheduled with FPU prior to installation

Chiller Upgrade:
Chiller Upgrade:
Upgrade existing water-cooled centrifugal chillers, water-cooled scroll or screw chillers, and air-cooled electric chillers—and qualify for up to $100 per kW of additional savings above the minimum efficiency levels!
The minimum qualifications for efficiency are as follows:
Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers:
- Under 150 tons = 0.65 kW/ton with a 5.4 COP
- 150 – 300 tons = 0.60 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP
- Over 300 tons = 0.56 kW/ton with a 6.3 COP
Water-Cooled Scroll or Screw Chillers:
- Under 150 tons = 0.72 kW/ton with a 4.9 COP
- 150 – 300 tons = 0.66 kW/ton with a 5.3 COP
- Over 300 tons = 0.59 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP
Air-Cooled Electric Chillers (any size):
- Any size = 1.17 kW/ton with a 3.0 COP
Additional Details:
- In order to be eligible, the customer must send a project proposal to FPU. An FPU Representative will then schedule an on-site inspection both before and after the installation
