Commercial Heating & Cooling Efficiency Upgrade Program:

Jumpstart your HVAC energy-savings with a $100 rebate when you:

• Replace your current system with a high-efficiency heat pump or air conditioning system
• Install a new high-efficiency heat pump or air conditioning system

In order to be eligible for a rebate, the commercial customer must:

• Replace existing equipment with—or install—a new heat pump (AHRI rating only) or central air conditioning system with a minimum rating of 16.0 SEER (15.3 SEER2)

  On January 1st, 2023, the new Federal Minimum Standards increased the minimum efficiency requirement. The new minimum requirement for the FPUC rebate program is 16 SEER, or 15.3 SEER2.  (A grace period has been extended through March 31, 2023 to process SEER 15 rebates.) 

  If installed on or Before March 31, 2023 – A minimum rating of 15 SEER or 14.3 SEER2 is required for a rebate.
  
  If installed on April 1, 2023, or After – A minimum rating of 16 SEER or 15.3 SEER2 is required for a rebate.

• Be the owner of the business, which must be located in FPU’s electric service area
• Have a ducted HVAC system
• Submit a signed rebate application to FPUC within one year of the installation date
• Dealer incentive will be paid to the contractor for the purchase and installation of a qualifying unit once the commercial rebate is approved

Additional Details:

• For a new heat pump installed or a heat pump being replaced, the maximum supplemental strip heating physically contained in the system shall not exceed 2 kW per nominal ton. On a system of less than 2.5 tons, a 5 kW heat strip will be allowed
• For a heat pump using supplemental strip heating, a two-stage indoor thermostat is required
• If replacing a straight cooling system, the business cannot have oil or electric resistance as the primary heat source
• The customer and/or contractor must attest that the heat pump or air conditioner installation meets all required codes and standards. FPU accepts no liability for the installation

Commercial Chiller Upgrade Program:

Upgrade existing water-cooled centrifugal chillers, water-cooled scroll or screw chillers, and air-cooled electric chillers—and qualify for up to $175 per kW of additional savings above the minimum efficiency levels!

The minimum qualifications for efficiency are as follows:

Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers:

1. Under 150 tons = 0.65 kW/ton with a 5.4 COP
2. 150 – 300 tons = 0.60 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP
3. Over 300 tons = 0.56 kW/ton with a 6.3 COP

Water-Cooled Scroll or Screw Chillers:

1. Under 150 tons = 0.72 kW/ton with a 4.9 COP
2. 150 – 300 tons = 0.66 kW/ton with a 5.3 COP
3. Over 300 tons = 0.59 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP

Air-Cooled Electric Chillers (any size):

1. Any size = 1.17 kW/ton with a 3.0 COP

In order to be eligible for a rebate, the commercial customer must:

• Be the owner of the business, which must be located in FPU’s electric service area
• Submit a signed rebate application to FPUC within one year of the installation date

Additional Details:

• The customer must send a project proposal to FPU. An FPU Representative will then schedule an on-site inspection both before and after the installation

Commercial Reflective Roof Program:

Convert your existing roof to a cool roof or install a new cool roof using Energy Star materials—and qualify for a rebate!

Rebate Amounts:

$0.075 per square foot for new roofs on an existing or new building.

$0.325 per square foot for converting an existing roof to a cool roof.

In order to be eligible for a rebate, the commercial customer must:

• Be the owner of the business, which must be located in FPU’s electric service area
• Submit a signed rebate application to FPUC within one year of the installation date

Additional Details:

• The roof must cover air conditioned space
• The roofing material must be Energy Star certified
• The customer must send a project proposal to FPU. An FPU Representative will then schedule an on-site inspection both before and after the installation
