Leased Tanks vs Customer-Owned Tanks

Leased Tanks
Florida Public Utilities offers all new customers the option of leasing their propane tank. We lease and service tanks from 47 to 1,000-gallons.

We also provide flexible lease terms and payment options. If you determine that leasing a tank best suites your needs, a Florida Public Utilities Energy Expert will assist you with any questions.

Customer-Owned Tanks
Florida Public Utilities is happy to provide service to customers who own their propane tank. Plus, customers who own their propane tanks receive a lower price per gallon.

Our service technicians are available to assist customers in determining if there are any maintenance or safety concerns with their tank.

Metered service is not available to customers who own their tanks.

If you determine that owning a tank is the right choice for you, a Florida Public Utilities Energy Expert will assist you with any questions.

Determining Tank Size
A Florida Public Utilities Energy Expert will help determine the proper tank size. For a residential customer, the size may range from 100-500 gallons, depending on household use. Typically, a 250-gallon tank is ample for an average four-bedroom home. However, it is best to consult your FPU Energy Expert to ensure the proper sizing for your requirements. Determining the correct tank size for each household is a function of demand, economy, efficiency and convenience.
