simple and efficient – yet detailed enough to ensure
security and privacy-as we gather the information necessary
to deliver your online bills and process your payments. It
takes about 5 minutes to complete the sign-up process. You
just need to provide some basic information to get started:
- Your name, address phone number and e-mail address. This
helps us provide the highest quality of service when it
comes to taking care of your payments.
- Your FPU account number (located at the upper right portion
of your paper bill) and the company ZIP code (located at
the upper center portion of your paper bill).
- When entering your account number, please enter it
exactly as it appears on your bill. This could include
leading zeros, the dash and the last number.
Does it cost me anything?
Not if you go through Florida Public Utilities web site at
www.fpuc.com. Simply go to our web site and click on MY ACCOUNT,
then PAY MY BILL. Then select the ‘OTHER’ payment
option (instead of the banks, brokers etc…) then select
the CHECKFREE option. It’s that easy and it’s
FREE!
Why are there so many banks, credit unions, etc shown,
if you are partnered with CheckFree?
CheckFree has partnered with all of the companies listed to
be part of their eBill payment option. You can choose your
current bank, brokerage, credit union, etc if listed or choose
CheckFree by selecting the ‘Other’ tab. Many of
the other payment providers have different policies, so be
sure to check before using them to sign up regarding their
fees and policies.
What will I require the first time I log in?
You will need your name, address phone number and e-mail address.
Florida Public Utilities (FPU) account number, and our ZIP
code located on the top of your bill. You will be asked to
add your FPU account when you register. The next time you
access your account online you will only need your user ID
and password that you created. It’s that simple!
Do I have to provide my Social Security Number?
It depends on which payment portal you select. Each portal
contains their selected criteria for entry. The CheckFree
portal is FREE and does not require a SSN. Simply go to our
web site and click on MY ACCOUNT, then PAY MY BILL. Then select
the ‘OTHER’ payment option (instead of the banks,
brokers etc…) then select the CHECKFREE option.
What is a valid user ID and password?
Your user ID and password should be something that you easily
remember. The following requirements enable you to create
a password that will help you maintain the security and privacy
of your FPU account.
User Ids and passwords are case sensitive and must be 6 to
25 characters.
NOTE: Your password protects the confidentiality of your
FPU online account and helps us to verify your identity.
What if I forget my user ID?
Your user ID is required to log in. Unfortunately, if you
are having trouble remembering it, we are unable to retrieve
it for you, due to security reasons. You will need to register
with a new user ID.
When FPU eBill begins:
Once you have completed the simple enrollment process, you
will receive an FPU
e-mail bill message that your eBill is ready to be viewed
and paid online. You will no
longer receive a paper bill in the mail.
Will I get a paper bill in the mail?
No, you will get an e-mail announcing that you have a bill
to be viewed and paid. However, many of the providers, such
as CheckFree, will store your bills automatically at their
site for six months, and, of course, you can download and
print a copy when you view your bill at any time.
Can I still pay my bill by mail even if I get an
electronic bill?
Yes you can. However, eBill allows you to conveniently pay
your bill directly from your bank account. Paying your bill
by mail after you begin receiving eBills will delay your payment
and may be difficult to identify the payment unless you enclose
your account number or copy of the bill stub.
I’m on Florida Public Utilities EFT program.
Can I also sign up for eBill?
Yes, you can sign up for eBill to view your monthly bill,
however you would not want to pay electronically since it
is already being drafted. If you want to add the convenient
eBill payment option, contact your local Florida Public Utilities
office and have them inactivate your EFT account.
Are my eBill payments automatically deducted from
my bank account?
Yes. Simply visit the Internet Site where your bill is presented
each month and authorize the payment transfer to Florida Public
Utilities. To make sure your payment reaches us on time, make
sure you understand the policies of your bank, brokerage or
other provider regarding the timing of payments.

How long does it take eBill to transfer my payment
to Florida Public Utilities?
It can take up to five business days for your payment to be
credited to your Florida Public Utilities account. Make sure
you know your provider’s payment release policy. Payments
authorized or submitted too close to the due date may not
be sent until after the date your payment was due. You may
get a warning that your payment will not be posted until after
the due date. To avoid late fees, be sure to select a payment
date that’s at least five business days prior to the
due date listed on your bill.
Is the eBill service secure?
Yes. CheckFree uses 128-bit encryption, which is the safest
encryption method used on computers today. If need, you can
easily load 128-bit encryption for either Internet Explorer
or Netscape.
Will I continue to get my bill messages and bill
inserts?
Yes. These will be available as links on your eBill. Other
important information about your energy service can be located
on our web site www.fpuc.com.
Do I have to use eBill?
No. eBill is just one of many convenient payment options Florida
Public Utilities offers. You can by your bill online, through
EFT, by mail or come into your local office.
What about late payments and extended due dates?
If you’re unable to pay your bill on time, please call
your local office. However the same late payment fees and
extended due date polices apply to eBills as they do to mailed
bills.
Why does my session expire?
Sessions expire after 30 minutes of inactivity. This is done
in order to protect your privacy in case you forget to log
out and reduce server load. In order to continue an expired
session, you to log in again.
To avoid a possible late fee, you must authorize
your online payment at least five business days prior to your
bill's due date.
