To receive Energy for Life certification, a new home must comply
with the Florida Model Energy Code. In addition, Florida Public
Utilities also recommends the following:
HEAT PUMPS of 14 SEER or higher, or a 14 SEER air conditioner with a .90 AFUE gas furnace.
CEILING INSULATION rated at R-38-for the most comfort and efficiency, especially during warm Florida summers.
WALL INSULATION rated at R-13-provides temperature stability for year-round comfort.
DOUBLE-PANE WINDOWS - offer extra protection
against heat transfer.
RIDGE VENT - reduces air conditioning costs
by keeping the attic cooler.
INSULATED DOORS - offer extra protection
against heat transfer.
